Lynn is the registrar/money manager at CCSO, trying desperately to maintain the float balance at the level it was when she took the position. Lynn has a sharp wit and amazing sense of humour and is always ready and willing to answer any questions that new orchestra members may have. Feel free to send an email to ccsonotes@gmail.com with your inquiries and Lynn will send a speedy reply. She started playing violin in the CCSO in 2012 and took over registrar duties in 2020.
Lynn has been playing music since a few decades ago, starting with clarinet in grade school and having since acquired a band's worth of stringed instruments as an adult - mostly fretted ones, which are far friendlier than her violin. She has been fiddling* for a bit longer than 10 years, has no particular favourite composers, and mostly just enjoys the thrill of making music in a group, particularly when it goes well.
*Her violin is a Czech cottage industry instrument from the 1920’s, that was played in dance bands across southern Alberta for 30 years….it’s a fiddle.

Sarah began her musical journey in grade school in her school orchestra on the violin. After a move to Cochrane, there was no string program to participate in, so she played the clarinet in the high school band. After graduating, she took a long hiatus from playing and picked up her violin again with private lessons. However, she missed playing in a group which led her to the Calgary Community String Orchestra, where she has been a member since the fall of 2017. Being a member of this community not only improved her skill on the violin but also had a positive impact on her life. In 2020, during Covid, there were no musical groups getting together, so Sarah decided to complete her grade 5 RCM exam in violin.
Since then, she has continued to play in the orchestra but is also a member of the
Prairie Mountain Fiddlers and a trio called Melodic Mix.

Lindsey has had a deep appreciation for music ever since she was a young child. She adores music from every decade/genre and is often found with her headphones on, or listening to an album through living room or car speakers. She played the flute in junior high band and it was there that she discovered the joy of making music with others. She decided to learn the cello in her late 20's, when a good friend of hers encouraged her to do so. The cello has long been one of her favourite instruments due to its beautiful tonal qualities and ability to stir one's emotions. Her favourite composers/cellists include J.S. Bach (The Cello Suites, baby!), Yo-Yo Ma, Jacqueline du Pré, and János Starker.
Lindsey currently plays in the CCSO and a trio. When she isn't playing her cello, she enjoys climbing, cycling, running, painting, and spending time with her husband and children.
